What is Shopmobility?

South Shields Shopmobility provides manual and powered wheelchairs as well as scooters and escorts for anyone who has a mobility problem or is visually impaired.

For a small charge members of the scheme can enjoy independence and freedom in the shops, parks and seafront areas.

The scooters and powered chairs are easy to use and a training and practice area is available beside our premises. Our friendly staff and volunteers are always available for help and advice.

If you are arriving in South Shields by car or public transport, we can arrange for you to be met at your point of arrival with your preferred hire vehicle, within a mile radius.
